Biography

About Dr. Cummins

Erin Cummins, M.D., FACS, is a highly accomplished, board-certified general surgeon with nearly three decades of experience. She has built her career while maintaining affiliations with top-tier hospitals in the Jackson metropolitan area, including Mississippi Baptist Medical Center and Merit Health River Oaks and Woman’s Hospital.

She earned her medical degree and completed her intensive surgical residency training at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, with which she is now affiliated through its Madison campus. She has a strong history in bariatric surgery and now focuses on minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic procedures, routine and complex general surgery, and wound care.

Dr. Cummins enjoys teaching surgery residents from UMMC and medical students from William Carey University, where she serves as an adjunct clinical professor. Outside of the medical setting, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, attending Chapel of the Cross, and coaching swimming for a local high school. She is a former collegiate swimmer for Delta State University.

Dr. Cummins understands that facing a surgical procedure can be overwhelming. She blends elite clinical skill with an approachable bedside manner that places comfort and understanding first.
